ABOUT Phoenix Global
THE PHOENIX PROJECT is a 9-year education and research collaboration primarily between Cardiff University and University of Namibia (UNAM) and more recently with University of Zambia (UNZA). Phoenix is Cardiff University’s International Development project in sub Saharan Africa, formed in response to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

OUR PHOENIX TEAM
Professor Judith Hall OBE
Phoenix Project Lead
Professor Hall has worked in international collaboration for 30 years. She started as a doctor working in challenging situations, gradually moving into project development and leadership.
Judith believes everyone can make a contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and that the very best projects are ‘listening’ projects. Judith has worked in Nepal, Swaziland, Benin, Liberia, Zambia and Namibia founding the charity Mothers of Africa and then leading the Phoenix Project.
She has won many awards for her work for which she feels very honoured. These include a St David Award in 2018 and an OBE in 2013 for Founding the Charity Mothers of Africa, and for Services to Africa.
Nicola Pulman
Project Manager
Nicola Pulman is the Project Manager for The Phoenix Project, working on a 9-year collaborative partnership project between University of Namibia and Cardiff University.
Nicola has a Post-Graduate Diploma in Energy Systems and the Environment and a BSc. Honours Degree in Environmental Studies.
Having worked and lived in Africa for two decades as a Project and Programme Manager, Nicola has experience of managing complex multifaceted projects and programmes in sub-Saharan Africa and UK.
Charlotte Brind
Project Administrator
Administrator for Phoenix project. Before starting working with Phoenix Charlotte volunteered for WCIA and a local Wales-Africa partnership, Hub Cymru Africa.
Charlotte has an honours degree in International development from The University of Leeds and will soon be starting a masters programme in public policy.
